She has been able to dedicate more time to her writing now that the kids are older. She has been writing The Children’s Bedtime Story in a local magazine, called The Hometown Journey for about two years. She started the Xavier Series about about fifteen years ago, before the kids were born. The first story she wrote was Ollie the Ostrich, which her teacher in college told her to change. She did not like that it rhymed, but Lori knew that was what attracted children. This is also the story that the publisher, and creator, of the local Hometown Journey read, and liked. She has been writing for them ever since. Since her stories have Christian overtones and mention God, she may have difficulty getting them into the schools. However, this will not discourage her; instead, it will motivate her determination to provide quality books for children. She is also currently working on a young adult, martial arts, novel.
Her schedule stays very full as a homeschooling mom, treasurer of their homeschool group, running her daughter to competitive gymnastics, hauling her son to swimming, keeping her husband’s books for his business, and writing (of course); she is also working on her second degree black belt in Kuk Sool Won.
